Stay on Track with Credit Recovery

The purpose of Credit Recovery is to provide students an opportunity to get back on track and ready for graduation and back on grade level.  Stivers has led the district in getting students the most credits.  Credit Recovery is an after-school program designed to help students catch up with their credits.  They can take classes that they have failed.  The cost is $50 unless a student receives a free (not reduced) lunch.  Students must take either Credit Recovery or Summer School to make up failed classes.  Summer school costs $150).  The application is outside the Stivers counseling Office.

Who is it for?

Credit Recovery is for Grades 9 - 12.  Ninth graders may participate after their 1st semester is complete.  Students must have failed a course to participate.

Which courses is it for?

Credit Recovery is for courses that are Carnegie Unit Balanced, i.e. academic classes only - no magnet courses.  These courses include:

• Math
  • Algebra I
  • Algebra II
  • Geometry
• History
  • American History
  • World History
  • American Government
• Science
  • Physical Science
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
• Language Arts 9-12

How does it work?

The student should make up classes as they occur.  Don't delay!  The class itself is a silent environment.  Attendance is mandatory.  Students work independently and self-paced using a computer generated (web-based) program called the Plato Learning Environment.   

Credit Recovery begins in September.  Classes are Monday through Thursday after school, from 2:45 to 5:00.  Students must attend the entire time, every day.

How to participate:

Upon learning of the need for Credit Recovery, students should fill out the application and sign it, and have their parents and Mr. Asadoridan (Guidance Counselor) sign it.
