About the Library
Library Schedule
Monday through Friday 7:50 - 3:00 p.m.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Dayton Public Schools Library Media Centers is to provide every student with a foundation for lifelong learning and ensure that students and staff are able to integrate the Ohio Standards in a variety of informational formats.
Library Services
The Library Media Center provides access to books, paperbacks, magazines, reference and audio-visual materials, as well as internet and electronic resources, to the students and staff of Stivers School for the Arts. The Librarian works collaboratively with teachers to plan lessons and provides support for various teacher-initiated projects. The Librarian provides teacher collections on request and can borrow books from other Dayton Public Schools library media centers for both students and staff members.
Library Policies and Procedures
Circulation
Materials circulate to students for two weeks. Materials circulate to faculty for six weeks.
Renewals
Students and staff members may renew materials if there is no hold on the item.
Holds
Students and staff may place holds for items that are checked out.
Overdues
If a student has a book overdue, he or she may not check out anything else until the item is returned. If the item cannot be found, it will be declared lost, and the student will have to pay for it.
Lost and damaged items
Students can pay the entire sum or make payments each week until the book has been paid for. Students can also work in the Library Media Center to pay for lost materials.

- INFOhio - The site is an information network for Ohio Schools with resources to aid research by age group. If you plan to access these resources from home, please see the librarian for the username and password.
- EBSCOhost - EBSCOhost is an online database that provides authoritative articles related to a variety of topics the databases are split into grade level focus to assure relevant material is provided.
- Biography Reference Bank- Biography Reference Bank provides a database of biographical information on thousands of individuals from all focuses.
- Science Online - Science Online provides an interactive database of searchable articles, videos and more in relation to the topic of science.
- Power Media Plus - This is a database featuring educational video and audio resources. Please see the librarian for the password.
- Discovery Portal - provides age appropriate resources and sites to enhance students learning. The sites allow students to reinforce skills or to learn new topics while building 21st Century skills.
- ipl2 -This is an index to more than 10,000 internet resources that have been selected and evaluated by librarians.
- OhioLINK - OhioLINK provides a bridge between library catalogs and digital archives from across Ohio.
- Jurn - A curated academic search-engine, indexing 4,313 free ejournals in the arts & humanities.

KnowItNow24x7 - Ohio offers a statewide online library reference service called KnowItNow24x7. Staffed by librarians across the state, KnowItNow24x7 can connect students with an information professional live online any time of day or night.

- ASL Pro - ASL Pro is free searchable dictionary of American Sign Language words. It shows through a video feed how to make the sign.
- The ACT - The site provides ACT Online Test Prep guides and sample tests.
- SAT Prep Help - The site provides SAT information and sample tests for each category.
- Purdue Online Writing Lab Grades 7-12 - The site provides writing resources for teachers and students in grades 7-12. The resources are part of the Purdue OWL program.
