Congratulations to our Stivers Creative Writing Students!

Congratulations! Our Stivers creative writers have been recognized with regional Gold Keys in The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards of 2009. This is a remarkable achievement for Stivers, considering that the most accomplised works submitted  to the regional programs of The Awards earn Gold Keys. IN 2009, more than 140, 000 works were submitted to The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Only 1,300 writing manuscripts from the Region-at-Karge earn Gold Key recognition each year. I've enclosed a "Frequently Asked Questions" sheet to provide you with more information about The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

In their 86-year history, The Awards have recognized some of America's most celebrated artists ans authors while they were teenagers, including: Richard Avedon, Mel Bochner, Truman Capote, Frances Farmer, Robert Indiana, Donald Lipski, Bernard Malamud, Joyce Maynard, Joyce Carol Oates, Tom Otterness, Philip Pearlstein, Sylvia Plath, Robert Redford, Andy Warhol, Charles White and Sherley Anne Williams. We're proud to count your students (s) among them and among the next generation of artists and writers!

Theses works are now automatically forwarded to the national-level of judging for The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, which happens in late March. If your student (s) earn national recognition, you will be notified in April. Due to the high volume of submissions, only students earning national awards will recive furthur notice.
