Sophmore High School Student Selected to Participate in National Collegiate Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall
Matthew Quinn, a sophmore from Stivers School for the Arts Jazz Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra and Wind Orchestra, principal clarinet of the Dayton Youth Orchestra and clarinet, saxophone, and flute player of the Muse Machine Orchestra, makes his Carnegie Hall debut Sunday, May 30th, 2010 at 8:00pm, in Stern Auditorium/Perelman stage.
The National Wind Ensemble is a 76-member ensemble featuring the top collegiate music majors across the United States. Occuring in New York City from May 25-30, the group's resideny will be highlighted by a Carnegie Hall concert on Sunday, May 30th under the direction of esteemed conductor H. Robert Reynolds, principal conductor of the Wind Orchestra at the Thornton School of Music at the University of South California.
The program includes work by Berstein, Lauridsen/Reynolds, Hindemith, Gratham, John Cooper, McHugh, Buddy Defranco, Martino, Fabrizio, Sciorilli, Rossi, and Luttazzi.
This summer, Matthew will attend the National Music Academy in Interlochen, Michigan.
